Potential danger of using Jerky Treats

Hazardous Treats

The Veterinary Poisons Information Service has recently alerted vets to the potential danger of using Jerky Treats as regular treats in dogs.

In countries like the USA,Canada & Australia the consumption of these Jerky Treats has been associated with a worrying increase in cases of Fanconi Syndrome, a potentially serious kidney disorder. With this disease the kidney tubules do not properly reabsorb electrolytes and nutrients back into the body but instead spill them in the urine. Unfortunately if not treated promptly the condition is often fatal.

Our concern is that recently a few cases have now also been reported in the UK.

In view of this information it may well be prudent and advisable to avoid these treats in pet dogs until more information about them is available.

We will place more information about this on our website in the near future.

New Construction Started

Construction Started Across The Surgery!

Some of our clients who recently visited the surgery, will already have noticed that some demolition/construction work has started on the previous Springfield Street Garage site just across from the surgery.

We are very exited to announce that this is the actual start of a redevelopment and expansion project of our growing Veterinary Centre and business.

The aim is to be able to provide our valued clients and their pets with extra services that will complement the clinical side of the practice.

This project has taken almost 3 years of planning and preparation to reach this stage.

Please rest assured that the existing surgery building will not be affected and will keep functioning as normal. Unfortunately some temporary parking issues can be expected during the main construction period, during skip deliveries, deliveries of materials etc. We and our builder Cre8 Construction ,will however do our up most to minimise any disruption this may cause. Please ask our reception staff for help if you encounter any problems during visits.

We will try and update our clients regularly with the progress of the construction faze and in due course reveal more of our plans.
